House of the eternal beings –

I feel as though with the internet and how media has become such a huge part in everyone’s lives we often idolise over people or lifestyles we know very little about. Social media has become a highlight reel of everyone’s lives that we become obsessive over. Celebrities seem closer than ever yet at the same time more unrealistic than ever. Constantly showing us a quixotic vision of a life we all wish we could attain. With this piece I wanted to juxtapose this dreamlike scene of characters lounging around and put it against a darker backdrop. You can see the figures in the background struggling to also reach this space of content. I painted the characters on the darker side of the painting in less detail to play on the idea that people generally don’t take an interest in who the person is or their story/journey unless its someone they feel is important enough to know.
