‘Night and Day at The Museum’
When I first began painting, one of my primary goals was to offer representation for people of colour within artistic spaces that have historically excluded these narratives. For too long, many of the most prominent and well-established art institutions have created environments that leave individuals from diverse backgrounds feeling alienated. This is particularly striking when we consider that museums such as the British Museum are filled with works and artefacts from cultures closely connected to those very communities that feel unwelcome.
By limiting access to these rich histories and artistic treasures, we are stifling the true potential of many people who could otherwise find inspiration and empowerment. Through my art, I aim to contribute to the ongoing dialogue about diversity and inclusion in the art world. By offering representation and placing my subjects in contexts that are not typically explored. I hope to create spaces where more people feel comfortable enough to lose themselves and all sense of time in a room full of art And history.
