A Family affair

I often find myself capturing moments between families, as I feel there is nothing more sacred then those intimate and to many, forever cherished memories. Especially considering how rare it is now, to meet families who have managed to stay together through the ugly and beautiful. It’s particularly rare to see representation of, or meet black families who have managed to break away from the stereotypical expectations that have so often been heavily placed  upon black families. Leaving them from the start no real fighting chance to begin a chapter of what should narrate a story of growth love and support. And that’s before even addressing the systematic chains that were created during times of slavery in order to oppress and control people creating a cycle that has continued, for generations even past slavery to poison and break the unity of those communities. It’s for this that I find it so very important to document and instill the idea that this existence does not have to remain only in fairytales but in reality too.
